Born 1946 in Corleone (PA).

Emigrated to Basel, Switzerland in 1965, worked as a laborer at Ciba in Basel (1965-1966)

Swiss diploma as a biotechnician (laboratory assistant, 1971), pharmacy studies in Basel and Florence

(1972-1977) with an experimental work for

PhD; Specialization at Cornell University in New York (1980-1981); Head of laboratories and research groups for cardiovascular and obesity research (1977-2002).

Winner of two pharmaceutical research awards (1996, 2002). Co-inventor of Diovan, the Novartis bestseller (1.5 billion euros in 2002). Associate Professor of the Faculty of

Medicine of Messina, Institute of Pharmacology (since 1992)
